2011 - Week 27 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Travelers Championship (US PGA Tour) and the BMW International Open (European PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. After the excitement of Rory McIlroy's storming victory yesterday, it's back to the grind! As usual, most of the bigger names are taking the week off after the major, but there are still a few to be seen on the fairways this week.

2011 - Week 26 Winners

Rory McIlroy (ranked 9th by Golf Predictor) won the second major of the season, the US Open on the European/US PGA Tour. The 22 year old Northern Irish man  put his Masters nightmare behind him with a magisterial display of golf. McIlroy decimating the field with his precision play to win by eight shots and fulfil all his early promise in the sport. His great victory also keeps the US Open trophy in Northern Ireland for another year! Our top ranked player, Lee Westwood, overcame a poor opening round of 75 to finish in tied 3rd. Overall, we had six of the top fourteen plus ties in total (6/18).

Matthew Zions (ranked 29th by Golf Predictor) won the Saint Omer Open pres by Neuflize OBC on the European PGA Tour. The 32 year old Australian was also a run away winner, finishing some seven shots clear of the field. Our top ranked player, Daniel Gaunt, finished in tied 67th and in a hard to predict event played in bad weather conditions, we had about seven of the top seventeen plus ties in total (7/23)*.

*Four late entrants who weren't in the field at the time the predictions were generated finished in the top seventeen plus ties, so it is difficult to make a direct comparison.

2011 - Week 26 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the US Open (European/US PGA Tour) and the Saint Omer Open pres by Neuflize OBC (European PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. The excitement is mounting for the second major of the season at Congressional, where the challenging layout will provide a stiff test for the competitors. Like the Masters, it's wide open this year, so it will be interesting to see who grasps the mettle. Meanwhile, in France, the Saint Omer Open has to make do with a second string field as it's going up against the major as usual. To make things worse for those turning up in France, the weather is promised very bad!

The American eventually prevailed on the third extra hole after Karlsson failed to get up and down from just off the green. Our top ranked player, Lee Westwood, finished in tied 11th and despite a lot of the bigger names not performing, we had eight of the top twenty two plus ties (8/24)*.

2011 - Week 25 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the BMW Italian Open pres. by CartaSi (European PGA Tour) and the FedEx St. Jude Classic (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. It's the last chance for a tune up before the next major of the season, the US Open on the very challenging Congressional layout. However, Lee Westwood is the only really big name playing this week, so everyone else must be saving their energy for the battle ahead!

Main Predictions Page Renamed

The main predictions page on Golf Predictor has been renamed. The "Predictions - Tournament Results" page is now titled "Predictions - Tournament Rankings" to reduce confusion with the actual results page for the tournament! This should hopefully make it clearer that the page in question is the predicted outcome of the event, not the actual one.

2011 - Week 24 Winners

Alexander Noren (ranked 33th by Golf Predictor) won the Saab Wales Open on the European PGA Tour. The 28 year old Swede eased to his second tour title, winning by two shots in difficult conditions. Despite the victory, it's off to Sunningdale tomorrow for Noren to try and qualify for the British Open! The breezy conditions upset the form book and we had three of the top eight plus ties in total (3/11).

Steve Stricker (ranked 4th by Golf Predictor) won the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance on the US PGA Tour. The 44 year old American won by one in a nervy finish after a rain delay had halted his momentum and given him enough time to doubt himself.
