2015 - Week 8 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Joburg Open (European PGA Tour) and The Honda Classic (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. All eyes in the US will be on Rory McIlroy, who makes his 2015 début on the PGA Tour. The world number one headlines a strong field with eleven out of the top twenty in the world rankings teeing it up in Florida ahead of the WGC next week. Meanwhile, the European PGA Tour is heading back to South Africa, where the Johannesburg based event has its usual large local contingent of unknowns among its huge field in general!

2015 - Week 7 Winners

Anirbar Lahiri (ranked 1st by Golf Predictor) won the Hero Indian Open on the European PGA Tour. The 27 year old Indian won his home open at the first hole of a sudden death play-off with S.S.P. Chowrasia. Lahiri came from seven shots back to secure his second tour title just two weeks after his maiden success. In an almost farcical final day, Lahiri was one of the few competitors not to collapse on the back nine on the tricky narrow layout in windier conditions. Including the winner, we had only seven of the top seventeen plus ties (7/23) in an event with a poor field.

James Hahn (ranked 58th by Golf Predictor) won the Northern Trust Open title on the US PGA Tour. The 33 year old American won his first tournament in a sudden death play-off with Dustin Johnson and Paul Casey. The former shoe salesman won at the third extra hole when he birdied from twenty five feet and Johnson failed to match him from ten feet closer in. Like the Indian event, the weather turned somewhat on Sunday and many in contention fell away in the rain. Our top ranked player, Bubba Watson, finished in tied 14th and we had nine of the top twenty plus ties (9/21).

2015 - Week 7 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Hero Indian Open (European PGA Tour) and the Northern Trust Open (US PGA Tour) are now available on Golf Predictor. It's the last week of the California swing this week on the US PGA Tour and six of the world's top twenty are teeing it up at Riviera. Meanwhile, the European PGA Tour returns to India with the usual weak field. As only three of the top 100 golfers in the world are competing, it promises to be a bit of a lottery. Note that as Golf Predictor does not track the Asian Tour, the tournament/course history of the Asian tour players is not taken into account.

2015 - Week 6 Winners

Andrew Dodt (ranked 53rd by Golf Predictor) won the inaugural True Thailand Classic pres. by Black Mountain on the European PGA Tour. The 29 year old Australian won his second tour title five years after his first. Dodt hadn't registered a top ten since that 2010 victory in India and indeed had to go to Qualifying School in November to regain his card. However, a bogey free final round and mistakes from his nearest challengers saw the Australian to his unexpected win. Home favourite and our top ranked player, Thongchai Jaidee, will rue a double bogey on thirteen and failing to two putt the par five last. He finished one shot back in tied second place with the big hitting Scott Hend. Overall, we had eight of the top twenty one plus ties (8/24*) in this new event with a relatively poor field.

Brandt Snedeker (ranked 15th by Golf Predictor) won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on the US PGA Tour. The 34 year old American won his seventh tour title with an assured final day performance. It was the second win in three years at Pebble Beach for an emotional Snedeker, who has now put a disappointing eighteen months on the PGA Tour behind him. It was another tough finishing day for Jim Furyk, who failed to convert yet another fifty four hole lead. Our top ranked player, Jason Day, finished in tied 4th and overall, we had only seven of the top eighteen plus ties (7/20).

2015 - Week 6 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the True Thailand Classic pres. by Black Mountain (European PGA Tour) and the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (US PGA Tour) are now available on Golf Predictor. The European Tour returns to Thailand this week and local hero Thongchai Jaidee is one of the bigger names at the event, which is co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour. Meanwhile, the California swing continues on the US PGA Tour with the annual pro-am with the stars at scenic Pebble Beach and two other nearby courses.

2015 - Week 5 Winners

Anirban Lahiri (ranked 15th by Golf Predictor) won the Maybank Malaysian Open on the European PGA Tour. The 27 year old Indian won his first title, helped by a fast start that enabled him to pip the in-form Bernd Wiesberger by a shot. Lahiri birdied four of his first five holes and when the Austrian made a mess of the fifth, it enabled the comeback from five shots back behind. Our top ranked player, Victor Dubuisson, was a late withdrawal and in an event where a lot of the bigger names failed to perform, we had only eight of the top twenty plus ties (8/24)* .
 
Jason Day (ranked 2nd by Golf Predictor) won the Farmers Insurance Open on the US PGA Tour. The 27 year old Australian won his third tour title in a four man play-off with defending champion Scott Stallings, Harris English and J.B Holmes. After Stallings and English were knocked out at the first extra hole, Day went on to take the title at the next when Holmes flew threw the green and couldn't get up and down. It was another disappointing tournament for Tiger Woods, who had to pull out during the first round with another back injury. It wasn't an auspicious comeback for Dustin Johnson either, who missed the cut. Our top ranked player, Justin Rose, also failed to make the weekend and we had only seven of the top nineteen (7/23) in total on the testing layout, which took its toll on some of the bigger names.

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Maybank Malaysian Open (European PGA Tour) and the Farmers Insurance Open (US PGA Tour) are now available on Golf Predictor. All eyes will be on Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson at Torrey Pines, who both have something to prove this week. Woods has a record low ranking on Golf Predictor, to see if he can rebound from that disastrous performance last week in Phoenix. On the positive side, he can't do much worse! Johnson is making a comeback after his "self imposed" six month absence from the game due to personal issues. Meanwhile in steamy Malaysia, there are several European Ryder Cup stars teeing it up in Kuala Lumpur, including former US Open champion Graeme McDowell.

2015 - Week 4 Winners

Rory McIlroy (ranked 1st by Golf Predictor) won the Omega Dubai Desert Classic on the European PGA Tour. The 25 year old world number one didn't let the impending court proceedings against his former agent affect him as he turned in a dominating display to win by three shots at a canter. In doing so, McIlroy kept his amazing recent streak of top two finishes on the European Tour going (now 1st, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd and 1st). Overall, including the winner, we had nine of the top thirteen (9/19) in total.

Brooks Koepka (ranked 21st by Golf Predictor) won the Waste Management Phoenix Open on the US PGA Tour. While all eyes for the first two days were on the abject Tiger Woods, who finished tied last after a sorry display, Koepka took the limelight on the final day with an impressive performance on the last nine. The 24 year old American, who cut his teeth on the European tour, drove fantastically and hit all the greens in regulation coming home to win won his first tournament on the PGA Tour. Our top ranked player, Bubba Watson, just came up short again this year and finished tied 2nd. Overall, we had nine of the top seventeen plus ties (9/21).
