The predictions and statistics for this week, the Irish Open (European PGA Tour) and the AT&T National (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. Both tournaments are being held once again on famous courses. The Irish Open heads back to one of the finest links courses in the world, Royal Portrush, for the first time in almost 60 years. Should be a great week for all the Northern Irish golf heroes of recent years! Meanwhile, the AT&T National is heading back to Congressional after a mere three year hiatus!

2012 - Week 25 Winners
Danny Willet (ranked 37th by Golf Predictor) won the BMW International Open on the European PGA Tour. The 24 year old Englishman finally got his maiden win at his 106th attempt by beating Marcus Fraser on the fourth play-off hole in testing conditions in Cologne. Our top ranked player, Martin Kaymer, had a disappointing tournament on home soil and missed the cut. However, we had eight of the top twelve plus ties (8/17)* in total.
Marc Leishman (ranked 45th by Golf Predictor) won the Travelers Championship on the US PGA Tour. The 28 year old Australian secured the win after a long wait in the clubhouse. However, after a poor finish by Charley Hoffman and a valiant effort to catch him by Roland Thatcher, Leishman was not to be denied his maiden PGA Tour victory. Our top ranked player, Matt Kuchar, finished in tied 8th and we had six of the top eleven plus ties (6/14) in total.
*Anders Hansen didn't play, thereby promoting David Lynn into the top seventeen in the rankings.

'Field Rankings' Page Added to Golf Predictor
Field rankings for average finish in last 12 similar events (majors) ahead of the 2012 US Open
GP video tutorial on this page
|
- Average for the current season
- Average in previous five events in the current season
- Average on same course in the previous five years
- Average in same tournament in the previous five years
- Average in previous twelve similar events (reg./major/WGC/FedEx Cup)
- World ranking
The screenshot above shows the field rankings for average finish in last 12 similar events (majors) ahead of the 2012 US Open. While it shows Lee Westwood's impressive performances, he'd love to lower that average considerably in the near future! Each metric has two charts associated with it:
- The overall GP ranking chart, which is the same for all metrics.
- The chart showing the best in the field for the relevant metric (e.g. best season average)
- You may have to reload your current Golf Predictor page to see this new "Field Rankings" menu option.
- Golf Predictor results go back to the start of the 2003 season. Keep this in mind if you are perusing old tournaments on this page.
- For each of the first five metrics listed above, the average and number of tournaments played are displayed. For world ranking, the rank and average points are shown.
- As usual, you can hover over a player name for more information, as shown above for Lee Westwood. For each of the first five metrics listed above, the world ranking is displayed in the pop-up box. For world ranking, the cut streak is shown instead.
- As already mentioned, players with no relevant statistics are omitted from the results.
- This new functionality is provided for your benefit, so please do not abuse it. Obvious inferences not withstanding, it is not possible to accurately reverse engineer the Golf Predictor algorithm using this page!
*Only those who have any relevant statistics are listed.

2012 - Week 25 Predictions/Statistics Online
The predictions and statistics for this week, the Travelers Championship (US PGA Tour) and the BMW International Open (European PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. After the excitement at the Olympic Club yesterday, it's back to the grind! The Travelers Championship will have the last two major winners headlining the field, including newly minted US Open champion Web Simpson. Meanwhile, the German event has its local favourite and former major winner Martin Kaymer to cheer on.
2012 - Week 24 Winners
Web Simpson (ranked 27th by Golf Predictor) won the US Open on the European/US PGA Tour. The 26 year old American won his first major in only his fifth attempt as a host of former major champions failed to catch him after he posted a final round 68 (-2). Our top ranked player, Luke Donald, missed the cut and in an event where a lot of big names floundered in the "Graveyard of Champions", we had five of the top fifteen plus ties (5/20).
Darren Finchardt (ranked 6th by Golf Predictor) won the Saint Omer Open pres by Neuflize OBC on the European PGA Tour. The experienced South African coasted to victory on Sunday after an impressive weekend performance in windy conditions. Our top ranked player, Magnus A Carlsson, finished in tied 8th and we had five of the top eleven plus ties (5/14) in an event that is traditionally hard to predict.

Saint Omer Open Predictions Updated
The predictions for the Saint Omer Open pres. by Neuflize OBC (European PGA Tour) have had to be re-run on Golf Predictor. I noticed a problem with the historical statistics for this tournament, which also affected the same event in the two previous years. This was due to a minor discrepancy in the name of the tournament in previous years, which in turn lead to incorrect historical statistics being generated.
This issue has now been resolved and the affected predictions updated. Some golfers have consequently risen slightly in the rankings and some have correspondingly fallen a few places. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

2012 - Week 24 Predictions/Statistics Online
The predictions and statistics for this week, the US Open (European/US PGA Tour) and the Saint Omer Open pres by Neuflize OBC (European PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. The excitement is mounting for the second major of the season at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. With defending champion Rory McIlroy and all time great Tiger Woods both showing an encouraging return to form, it could be an exciting week in California. Meanwhile, it's a an even weaker line-up than usual in France this week. With only two of the top 250 in the world teeing it up in Saint Omer, the tournament has a poor field as measured by the Golf Predictor field strength metric.

2012 - Week 23 Winners
Lee Westwood (ranked 1st by Golf Predictor) won the Nordea Masters on the European PGA Tour for the third time. The 39 year old Englishman gave himself the perfect fillip for next week's US Open by easing to a five shot victory in Sweden. He might want to work on his short putting though, as it would have been a rout had he not missed a host of chances from inside ten feet. Including the winner, we had eight of the top seventeen plus ties (8/21) in total.
Dustin Johnson (ranked 3rd by Golf Predictor) won the FedEx St. Jude Classic on the US PGA Tour. The 27 year old American won his sixth tour title by a single shot in only his second comeback event from a back injury. Three of his nearest competitors (McIlroy, Campbell and O'Hern) made it easy on him by driving into the water on the final hole. Rory McIlroy was our top ranked player and finished in tied 7th after double bogeying the said finishing hole. Despite a lot of the bigger names not performing, we had five of the top thirteen plus ties (5/18).

2012 - Week 23 Predictions/Statistics Online
The predictions and statistics for this week, the Nordea Masters (European PGA Tour) and the FedEx St. Jude Classic (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. It's the last chance for a tune up before the next major of the season, the US Open, and Rory McIlroy will have to pull his socks up in Memphis! Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia are the only really big names playing in Sweden this week. With the US Open in San Francisco on the west coast this year, perhaps not the best preparation for a major. At least with the Wednesday start, they will have an extra day to make it to California for the big one next week.

2011 - Week 22 Winners
Thongchai Jaidee (ranked 41st by Golf Predictor) won the ISPS Handa Wales Open on the European PGA Tour. The 42 year old Thai won his fifth European PGA Tour event and his first outside Asia in very un-Asia like wet and windy conditions in Wales! Our top ranked player, Francesco Molinari, finished in tied 46th and despite the conditions upsetting the form book, we had five of the top fourteen plus ties in total (5/17).
Tiger Woods (ranked 4th by Golf Predictor) won the Memorial Tournament pres. by Nationwide Insurance on the US PGA Tour. The 36 year old American won his 73rd tour title, tying tournament host and fellow legend, Jack Nicklaus, in vintage fashion. Woods closed out with three birdies in the last four holes, including a brilliant chip-in on the 16th. Our top ranked player, Luke Donald, finished in 12th and we had nine of the top nineteen plus ties (9/24).
