2018 - Week 47 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at Anahita (European PGA Tour) and the Australian PGA Championship (European PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. Of course, neither continent is Europe, but there are two events on two different continents on the European Tour this week. The first location is Mauritius, where despite the exotic setting in the Indian Ocean, only two golfers are inside the top one hundred in the world rankings. While this marks the fourth year that the Australian PGA has been on the European Tour (and hence on Golf Predictor), it has a long history, dating all the way back to 1905. However, only the tournament history for when it has been part of the European Tour (i.e. last three years) is available in Golf Predictor, so please factor that into your analysis.

There is no event on the US PGA Tour this week, except for Tiger's invitational junket (Hero World Challenge). As in previous years, Golf Predictor is not not covering that (very) restricted field event.

2018 - Week 46 Winner

Aaron Rai (ranked 32nd by Golf Predictor) won the Homna Hong Kong Open pres. by Amundi on the European PGA Tour. The 23 year old Englishman won his first tour title with an assured display in China. However, despite leading by six shots overnight and not doing much wrong on Sunday, Rai was put under pressure by a charging Matthew Fitzpatrick. Whoever, when Fitzpatrick bogeyed the penultimate hole, Rai used his two shot cushion to bogey the last and win by a single shot. Our top ranked golfer, Tommy Fleetwood, finished poorly on Sunday for finished tied 14th and we had fifteen of the top twenty plus ties (15/29*) in total. 

There was no event on the US PGA Tour this week.

Region History Added to Winners Form Pages

New Region History for the winners in the 2018 GP Season (US Tour)

The 'Tournament Winners (Form)' and Tournament Winners (Form by Tournament)' pages have been enhanced with the same region history. These pages are available on the 'Other Stats' menu in the member section of Golf Predictor. This new region option has been added to the 'Previous 10 events form to analyse' drop-down list on each page. This is shown above for the winners in the 2018 GP Season (calendar year) on the US PGA Tour. As usual, hovering over a result will show some details about that particular tournament; this is shown above for Charles Howell's previous result in the same region as the RSM Classic.

This new historical form may make it easier to spot potential winners of future tournaments, by analysing the trends of past winners. Just another way to make Golf Predictor a little better!

2018 - Week 46 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Honma Hong Kong Open pres. by Amundi (European PGA Tour) are now available on Golf Predictor. It's the first week of the 2019 European Tour, even though it's still 2018 and of course, it's not in Europe! There are several big names and a strong contingent of tour regulars playing in Hong Kong this year. American Patrick Reed continues to support the European Tour and he is joined by tour regulars and big names Tommy Fleetwood and Sergio Garcia at the iconic Fanling layout.

There is no event on the US PGA Tour this week.

2018 - Week 45 Winners

Danny Willett (ranked 48th by Golf Predictor) won the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai on the European PGA Tour. The 31 year old Englishman put his almost three year drought behind him with victory at the season ending event in Dubai. Willett started strongly on Sunday with a great eagle on the second, and although he was caught during the round, he also finished strongly to pull away and win by two shots. After overcoming injuries and loss of form since his Masters triumph in 2016, Willett was understandably emotional in his post round interview. Francesco Molinari capped a great year by securing the Race to Dubai title. Our top ranked player, Rory McIlroy, had another indifferent week with his wedges and finished tied 20th. Overall, we had eleven of the top twenty plus ties (11/21) 

Charles Howell III (ranked 7th by Golf Predictor) won The RSM Classic on the US PGA Tour. The 39 year old American won his first PGA Tour title in over eleven years in a play-off with Patrick Rodgers in Georgia. After letting his overnight advantage slip, Howell finished strongly to tie the fast finishing Rodgers, who had cosed with a record setting 61-62 over the weekend. After missing two putts to win, Howell prevailed with a birdie at the second extra hole to finally win his third tour title. Afterwards, Howell was also understandably emotional to get the monkey off his back. Our top ranked player, Webb Simpson, finished in third and in an event that's usually hard to predict, we had eight of the top fifteen plus ties (8/22) overall. 

2018 - Week 45 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions/statistics for this week, the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai (European PGA Tour) and The RSM Classic (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. It's the last event of the season (but not the year!) on the European PGA Tour and the last event of the year (but not the season!) on the US Tour! There is a strong field of tour regulars for the European season finale, including Masters champion Patrick Reed and defending champion Jon Rahm. While six of the top twenty in the world are teeing it up in Dubai, the field is more modest in Georgia. World number twenty Webb Simpson headlines the field and it will be the last chance before January for the lesser lights to put some FedEx Cup points on the board.

2018 - Week 44 Winners

Lee Westwood (ranked 12th by Golf Predictor) won the Nedbank Golf Challenge on the European PGA Tour. The 45 year old Englishman won his twenty fourth tour title in a final day battle with home favourite Louis Oosthuizen and long-time leader Sergio Garcia. Despite trailing Garcia overnight by three shots, Westwood shot a brilliant closing 64 (-8) on the tough Sun City layout to take the title by three shots. A delighted Westwood was emotional afterwards, having ended a barren spell of four years. Our top ranked golfer, Rory McIlroy, never really fired and finished in tied 21st. Overall, we had fourteen of the top sixteen plus ties (14/26*) in total. 

Matt Kuchar (ranked 12th by Golf Predictor) won the Mayakoba Golf Classic on the US PGA Tour. The 40 year old American also ended a four year barren spell with victory in Mexico. Despite having  a four shot cushion overnight, Kuchar needed a two putt par from distance on the last to win by a single shot over Danny Lee. Our top ranked golfer, Rickie Fowler, finished in tied 16th and we had twelve of the top twenty one plus ties (12/25).

2018 - Week 44 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Nedbank Golf Challenge (European PGA Tour) and the Mayakoba Golf Classic (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. Rory McIlroy will be hoping to reclaim a place in the world's top five with a victory in South Africa. Meanwhile, Rickie Fowler will be hoping to build on his promising display last week in Mexico, where Jordan Spieth will also be trying to find some form.

2018 - Week 43 Winners

Justin Rose (ranked 1st by Golf Predictor) won the Turkish Airlines Open on the European PGA Tour. The 38 year old Englishman successfully defended a title for the first time with a play-off victory in Turkey. Rose came from three shots back to overtake overnight leader Hao-Tong Li early on the back nine. However, two closing bogeys by the Englishman saw the duo finish level after seventy two holes. After hitting a great tee shot and approach shot, unfortunately Li handed Rose the title when he missed a tiddler for par on the first extra hole. Rose was our top ranked player and returned to world number one with his win. Overall, we had eleven of the top eighteen plus ties (11/22).

Bryson DeChambeau (ranked 2nd by Golf Predictor) won the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open on the US PGA Tour. The 25 year old American won his fourth title of the year (and first of the new season) by a single shot from defending champion Patrick Cantlay. DeChambeau surged clear late on the back nine with an eagle on the sixteenth, but when Cantlay birdied the last, he only had the minimum advantage up the last. However, DeChambeau kept his cool and tapped in for the winning par. Our top ranked player, Rickie Fowler, finished tied 4th and we had nine of the top fifteen plus ties (9/22).
