2019 - Week 9 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Oman Open (European PGA Tour) and The Honda Classic (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. Thanks to the new tour schedule, the field isn't as strong in Florida this year with just three out of the top twenty in the world rankings teeing it up. Things are much worse in the Middle East, where they have to make do with seven golfers from the lower regions of the world's top one hundred. Note that the course history from the Challenge Tour event is not tracked by Golf Predictor.

2019 - Week 8 Winners

Dustin Johnson (ranked 1st by Golf Predictor) won the WGC - Mexico Championship on the European/US PGA Tour. The 34 year old American won his landmark twentieth tour title and sixth WGC title in Mexico. In winning there for the second time in three years, Johnson also joined an elite group who won in their first twelve seasons on tour. Despite playing a tight, tree lined course at altitude in Mexico, the big hitting Johnson put in another impressive performance on the short, but testing layout. He did make it somewhat hard on himself early on, having had his four shot overnight lead halved by Rory McIlroy. However, he steadied the ship and won easily by five shots in the end, despite a noble effort by the Northern Irishman on the back nine. Including the winner, we had eight of the top seventeen plus ties (8/18).

Martin Trainer (ranked 29th by Golf Predictor) won the Puerto Rico Open on the US PGA Tour. The 27 year old American overcame a shaky start to his PGA Tour career and won his first tour title in the second string event in Puerto Rico. Trainer finished strongly with two birdies in his last four holes to win by three shots from a quartet of players. Our top ranked player, Daniel Berger, was one of those who finished in tied second. Overall, we had only five of the top sixteen plus ties (5/20) in this usually difficult to predict event.

2019 - Week 8 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the WGC - Mexico Championship (European/US PGA Tour) and the Puerto Rico Open (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. All eyes will be on Mexico, where a quality field has once again assembled for the first WGC event of the year. There's an impressive forty six of top fifty in the world rankings playing in Mexico, even if world number one Justin Rose is one of the absentees. As usual, there's a second string line up for the Puerto Rico event as all the big names are playing in the WGC. That will give some of the lesser lights a great chance of tasting success on tour!

2019 - Week 7 Winners

Ryan Fox (ranked 5th by Golf Predictor) won the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth on the European PGA Tour. The 32 year old Kiwi won his maiden title at the hybrid stroke play/match play event in Australia. Fox rode his luck slightly to make the matchplay final after several visits to the play-off hole and a couple of close matches. However, he only needed four holes to beat format specialist Adrian Otaegui in the final. Our top ranked golfer, Justin Harding, narrowly missed out on the matchplay section and finished in tied 26th. Overall, we had eight of the top seventeen plus ties (8/19) in the breezy conditions.
 
J.B. Holmes (ranked 41st by Golf Predictor) won the Genesis Open title on the US PGA Tour. The 36 year old American won his fifth tour title in the trying conditions in Los Angeles. The insufferably slow Holmes took advantage of a poor final day by third round leader Justin Thomas to overcome a four shot deficit and win by a shot. Our top ranked golfer, Dustin Johnson, overcame a poor first round to finish in tied 9th and we had thirteen of the top fifteen plus ties (13/24) in total at the weather affected event.

2019 - Week 7 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth (European PGA Tour) and the Genesis Open (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. It's the last week of the California swing on the US PGA Tour this week and there's a quality field in Los Angeles. Fourteen of the top twenty in the world are teeing it up, which doesn't leave many of the top players for the Super 6 event in Perth! They have to make do with several from the lower reaches of the top one hundred for the combined stroke and match play event. 

2019 - Week 6 Winners

David Law (ranked 60th by Golf Predictor) won the inaugural ISPS Handa Vic Open on the European PGA Tour. The 27 year old Scot won his maiden tour title with a fantastic finish in Australia. Trailing Wade Ormsby by three shots with three shots to play, Law closed with birdie-par-eagle to win by a single shot after a costly double bogey-birdie finish by Ormsby. Our top ranked player, Justin Harding, finished 4th and in a new tour event with a poor field and where many of the bigger names did not perform, we had only seven of the top seventeen plus ties (7/21).

Phil Mickelson (ranked 8th by Golf Predictor) won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the US PGA Tour. The 48 year old American won his forty fourth tour event and fifth on the scenic Pacific layout. Trailing by three shots overnight, Mickelson overtook Paul Casey to win by three shots with a fine closing 65 (-7). Our top ranked player, Dustin Johnson, failed to shake off the effects of a long journey from Saudi Arabia, finishing in tied 45th. Overall, we only had five of the top eighteen plus ties (5/21) in the weather affected event.

2019 - Week 6 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the inaugural ISPS Handa Vic Open (European PGA Tour) and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (US PGA Tour) are now available on Golf Predictor. The California swing continues this week on the US Tour, where, as usual, a strong field has assembled to play with the stars. Seven of the top twenty in the world rankings, including world number three and winner in the Middle East last week Dustin Johnson, are teeing it up in the annual pro-am at scenic Pebble Beach and two other nearby courses. Meanwhile, the European PGA Tour is back in Australia for a new event in Victoria.

2019 - Week 5 Winners

Dustin Johnson (ranked 2nd by Golf Predictor) won the inaugural Saudi International on the European PGA Tour. The 34 year old American won his first regular tour title in a final day battle with Hao-Tong Li. Tied overnight after a marvellous eagle-eagle finish (in a round with four eagles in total!) by Li on Saturday, Johnson pulled clear on the back nine Sunday when Li recorded three bogeys. Despite a mini comeback by the Chinese golfer, Johnson easily kept him at bay to win by two shots in the end. Our top ranked player, Justin Rose, disappointingly missed the cut and we had only eight of the top nineteen (8/21) in an event where many struggled on the slow undulating greens.

Rickie Fowler (ranked 3rd by Golf Predictor) won the Waste Management Phoenix Open on the US PGA Tour. The 30 year old American eventually won his fifth tour title in an error filled final day in Phoenix. On an uncharacteristically damp final day in the desert, Fowler outlasted the rest to win by two shots from Branden Grace. Despite a four shot overnight advantage and a five shot mid round lead, Fowler fell behind mainly due to a calamity on the eleventh hole, when he found water with his third shot. After placing his ball on the bank, it rolled back in for an extra penalty shot. However, the popular American bounced back admirably to come through for the win. Our top ranked player, John Rahm, finished in tied 10th and we had ten of the top fifteen plus ties (10/19) in total.
