2019 - Week 44 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the WGC - HSBC Champions (European/US PGA Tour) and the Bermuda Championship (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. The field isn't quite as strong this year for the last WGC of the season, but ten of the top twenty in the world will still be teeing it up in Shanghai. That doesn't leave much top talent for Bermuda, where a second string line up will be battling it out. Alex Noren is the only one out of the world's top sixty that will be playing in the new event, so there is a good chance of a surprise winner!

2019 - Week 43 Winners

Steven Brown (ranked 74th by Golf Predictor) won the Portugal Masters on the European PGA Tour. The 32 year old Englishman won his first tour title with an impressive display in Vilamoura. Needing at least a third place finish to secure his card for next season, Brown held his nerve impressively with a closing 66 to put his poor season behind him and win by a shot from Justin Walters. That 66 included a brilliant 267 yard second shot on the long 12th to about five feet to set up an eagle. Our top ranked player, Matt Wallace, finished in tied 8th and we had eight of the top fourteen plus ties (8/20) at the birdiefest in the Algarve. 

Tiger Woods (ranked 10th by Golf Predictor) won the inaugural ZOZO Championship on the US PGA Tour. The 43 year old American won his record equalling 82nd title with an impressive performance at the first ever tour event held in Japan. Coming off  a relatively long lay-off and yet more knee surgery, Woods went wire to wire to add to his legend and tie Sam Snead for most tour wins. Our top ranked player, Rory McIlroy, overcame a slow start yet again to finish in tied 3rd. Overall, we had nine of the top seventeen plus ties (9/21) in total in this restricted field event.

2019 - Week 43 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions for this week, The ZOZO Championship (US PGA Tour) and the Portugal Masters (European PGA Tour) are now available on Golf Predictor. The PGA Tour moves to Japan for the first time, where Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are among the impressive field teeing it up near Tokyo. The field in Portugal is much more modest, but there are a significant number of European Tour regulars playing in the Algarve.

2019 - Week 42 Winners

Nicolas Colsaerts (ranked 41st by Golf Predictor) won the Amundi Open de France on the European PGA Tour. The 36 year old Belgian won his third tour title in Paris, seven years after his last victory. Colsaerts prevailed on a nervy final day to win by one from Joachim B. Hansen. Needing a good finish to secure his card, Colsaerts got off to a great start on Sunday, increasing his lead to five shots after the first hole. However, he still managed to crack and find himself two behind George Coetzee with six to play. When the South African cracked, he found himself one behind Hansen with two to play. However, the Dane cracked with a poor double on seventeen, allowing a relieved and emotional Colsaerts to win. Our top ranked player, Alex Noren, finished in tied eighteenth and we managed to have eleven of the top twenty three plus ties (11/25*) on the testing layout with a weak field.

Justin Thomas (ranked 2nd by Golf Predictor) won The CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges on the US PGA Tour. The 26 year old American won his eleventh tour title and second CJ Cup in three years in South Korea. Thomas cemented his status as a good frontrunner by converting another 54 hole co-lead to take the title. Tied with Korean born Danny Lee overnight, Thomas prevailed by two shots after Lee carded two late bogeys to fall out of the running. Our top ranked player, Brooks Koepka, pulled out before the third round after slipping on a path and hurting his knee. Overall, we had thirteen of the top twenty plus ties (13/25) in the restricted field event.

2019 - Week 42 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Amundi Open de France (European PGA Tour) and The CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. The PGA Tour returns to South Korea and there is a decent (restricted) field heading to Jeju Island for the first week of the Asian Swing. While there are four members of the world's top twenty, including world number one Brooks Koepka, playing in Korea, the downgraded French event has a much weaker field as it is not a Rolex Series event this year.

2019 - Week 41 Winners

Bernd Wiesberger (ranked 8th by Golf Predictor) won the Italian Open on the European PGA Tour. The 34 year old Austrian continued his great season by winning for the third time this season. Wiesberger finished with a flawless 65 (-6) to beat overnight leader Matthew Fitzpatrick by a single shot. The Englishman will rue the seven on the par five ninth hole on Sunday. Our top ranked player, Justin Rose, had a very poor Saturday, but bounced back on Sunday to finish in tied 15th. Overall, we had ten of the top eighteen plus ties (10/23). 

Lanto Griffin (ranked 16th by Golf Predictor) won the Houston Open on the US PGA Tour. The 31 year old American won his first tour title with an impressive final day performance in Texas. Griffin prevailed in a battle with fellow recent Korn Ferry Tour graduates Scott Harrington and Mark Hubbard to win by a shot. Our top ranked player, Henrik Stenson, was one of many bigger names who failed to perform and disappointingly missed the cut. Overall, we only had seven of the top twenty one plus ties (7/22).

2019 - Week 41 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Houston Open (US PGA Tour) and the Italian Open (European PGA Tour) are now available on Golf Predictor.  It's the tournament's first year as a Fall Series event, so there's a much weaker field than usual in Houston. Now that it isn't a tune up for The Masters, just two of the top fifty in the world are teeing it up. Meanwhile, the latest Rolex Series event in Italy has attracted a somewhat better field, with four of the tour twenty in the world and a supporting cast of tour regulars.

2019 - Week 40 Winners

Jon Rahm (ranked 1st by Golf Predictor) won the Mutuactivos Open de Espana on the European PGA Tour. The 24 year old Spaniard and short odds favourite delighted the large home following by winning his national open for the second year running. Rahm easily saw off several compatriots and even with a bogey on his penultimate hole won by five shots from a fast finishing Rafa Cabrera Bello. Rahm was our top ranked player (by some margin!) and we had twelve of the top seventeen plus ties (12/22).

Kevin Na (ranked 34th by Golf Predictor) won the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open on the US PGA Tour. The 36 year old American put on an incredible display of putting to win in Las Vegas for the second time. Na holed a record setting just under 559 feet of putts (+14.262 strokes gained on the greens!), but still just pipped another former winner Patrick Cantlay in a play-off. Na was cruising to the win until a treble bogey on ten brought him back to the field, but he finally got the job done on the second extra hole. Our top ranked player, Brooks Koepka, yet again didn't perform at a regular event and missed the cut. Overall, we had only eight of the top eighteen plus ties (8/28), in a birdie fest where many of the lesser lights came to the fore.
