2011 - Week 20 Winners

Thomas Aiken (ranked 15th by Golf Predictor) won the Open de Espana on the European PGA Tour. The South African captured his maiden title at the sombre event, with everyone was still coming to terms with the passing of the Spanish legend Seve Ballesteros early on Saturday morning. Our top ranked player, Miguel Angel Jimenez, finished in tied 46th , but can hardly have been expected to perform well under the trying circumstances for Spanish golfers in particular. However, we had ten of the top twenty two plus ties (10/23).

Lucas Glover (ranked 43rd by Golf Predictor) won the Wells Fargo Championship on the US PGA Tour. The 31 year old American secured his first title since the 2009 US Open by defeating good friend Jonathan Byrd in a play-off. Both finished impressively in regulation, especially Byrd who followed a miracle par on 16 with a tricky up and down on 17 and a fantastic birdie on the difficult final hole. However, Byrd wasn't able to repeat the magic on the 18th in the play-off and lost to his former college team mate. Our top ranked player, Phil Mickelson, finished in tied 9th and we had nine of the top twenty four plus ties (9/27) in total.
