2016 - Week 30 Winners

Jimmy Walker (ranked 66th by Golf Predictor) won the US PGA Championship on the European/US PGA Tour. The 37 year old American secured his first major title with a wire to wire victory at Baltusrol. On a strange final day with the leaders playing thirty six holes and the third and fourth rounds running concurrently, Walker put in a solid final day performance to take the title. Despite the world number one and defending champion Jason Day eagling the last, Walker parred the last to beat the Australian by a single shot. Day was our top ranked player and we had only seven of the top eighteen plus ties (7/21) in the weather affected event.

Shih-Chang Chan (ranked 90th by Golf Predictor) won the King’s Cup pres. by PTT Group on the European PGA Tour. The 30 year old Chinese Taipei golfer won his maiden tour title with an assured final day performance. Leading by one overnight, Chan was briefly caught midway through the round, but pulled away near the end to win by two shots. He was helped by a collapse by Eddie Pepperell who dropped five shots in his last four holes to fall dramatically down the leaderboard. Our top ranked player, Dean Burmester, finished in tied 20th and we had nine of the top twenty plus ties (9/23*) in the weak fielded event.

*Due to withdrawals, Im and Lin get promoted to the top 23 of the GP rankings.
