2017 - Week 34 Winners

Julian Suri (ranked 15th by Golf Predictor) won the Made in Denmark on the European PGA Tour. The 26 year old American won his first tour title in a final day battle with David Horsey. After opening with five birdies in the front nine on Sunday, Suri overturned Horsey's two shot overnight lead. However, the Englishman hit back and it was nip and tuck until the final tee. Trailing by a shot, Horsey had a nightmare trying to put pressure on the leader, losing his first ball left and finding the water right with his provisional. That effectively handed the title to Suri, who could relax up the last and finish with a blemish free 64 (-7). Our top ranked player, defending champion Thomas Pieters, disappointingly missed the cut and we had only seven of the top nineteen plus ties (7/22).

Jordan Spieth (ranked 3rd by Golf Predictor) won The Northern Trust on the US PGA Tour. The 24 year old American won his twelfth tour title in a close battle down the stretch with world number one Dustin Johnson. Despite leading by five at one stage early on Sunday, Spieth was caught by DJ and the duo fought it out on the back nine for the title. It looked like it was going to be decided on the final hole after DJ found deep rough off the tee and was forced to lay up. However, the world number one showed great resolve to drain an eighteen foot putt for par and force a play-off. On the first extra hole, DJ played the eighteenth perfectly with a fabulous drive, flick with a wedge and five foot putt to land the title. DJ was our top ranked player and we had a whopping sixteen of the top twenty plus ties (16/24) in total.
