Only the top thirty in the FedEx Cup rankings are playing in the US
season finale this week and it's the usual cream of the crop, with some
exceptions e.g. Jordan Spieth. However, the Texan's unexpected absence is balanced by the reappearance of Tiger Woods at East Lake. The field in
Portugal is more modest, but the out of form Sergio Garcia will hope playing in the Algarve will revive his fortunes ahead of the Ryder Cup.
