2019 - Week 35 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Omega European Masters (European PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. As usual, there is a decent field of tour members assembled for the popular track in Switzerland this week. The event is headlined by world number two and newly crowned FedEx Cup champion Rory McIlroy, who is joined by several other members of the US PGA Tour, now that their usual tour is in its brief close season.

2019 - Week 34 Winners

Erik van Rooyen (ranked 5th by Golf Predictor) won the Scandinavian Invitation on the European PGA Tour. The 29 year old South African finally captured his first tour title with a gutsy one shot victory in Sweden. After starting strongly on Sunday, van Rooyen built up a three shot lead early in the back nine. However, in a nervy finish, he just managed to edge out Matthew Fitzpatrick with a birdie on the final hole. Our top ranked player, home favourite Henrik Stenson, finished in tied 3rd and although many of the bigger names didn't perform, we had eleven of the top twenty plus ties (11/28).

Rory McIlroy (ranked 2nd by Golf Predictor) won the Tour Championship (and therefore the FedEx Cup) on the US PGA Tour. The 30 year old Northern Irishman capped a good year by taking the lucrative season ending title at East Lake. Unlike recent times, McIlroy was particularly impressive on Sunday, save for a brief spell on the back nine. That allowed him to come through to win by four from Xander Schauffele, despite starting five shots behind Justin Thomas on -5 in the new handicap system. Our top ranked player, Brooks Koepka, faded on the back nine with some poor putting and finished in tied 3rd. Overall, we had fourteen of the top sixteen plus ties (14/18)* in the restricted field event.  


*The handicapped start makes this comparison pretty irrelevant!

2019 - Week 34 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions for this week, the Tour Championship (US PGA Tour) and the Scandinavian Invitation (European PGA Tour) are now available on Golf Predictor. Only the top thirty in the FedEx Cup rankings are playing in the US season finale this week and it's the usual cream of the crop, with some exceptions e.g. Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth. The field in Sweden is obviously nowhere near as strong, with local favourites Henrik Stenson and Alex Noren among the bigger names in the event.

2019 - Week 33 Winners

Thomas Pieters (ranked 7th by Golf Predictor) won the D+D REAL Czech Masters on the European PGA Tour. The 27 year old Belgian won his fourth tour title and first in three years in Prague. In doing so, Pieters became the first man to win the event twice and continued his streak of winning all his events in the month from mid August! Pieters had built up a four shot cushion on the back nine, but a good finish by Adri Arnaus meant the final winning margin was a single shot. Our top ranked player, Bernd Wiesberger, finished 30th and we had only five of the top eighteen plus ties (5/23) in the weak fielded event. 

Justin Thomas (ranked 6th by Golf Predictor) won the second event of the FedEx Cup play-offs, the BMW Championship. The 26 year old American won his tenth tour title with an impressive victory at Medinah. Leading by six overnight, Thomas was put under some pressure by Patrick Cantlay and others, with his lead being reduced to two shots at one stage. However, he steadied the ship down the stretch and won by three in the end. Our top ranked player, Brooks Koepka, finished well for tied 24th and we had twelve of the top nineteen plus ties (12/23).

2019 - Week 33 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the D+D REAL Czech Masters (European PGA Tour) and the BMW Championship (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. It's the second leg of the FedEx Cup play-offs in the US this week and the pressure will be on to qualify for the lucrative Tour Championship next week. As usual, the bigger names are still in FedEx Cup contention in America and the top twenty four players in the world are teeing it up at Medinah. The field in the Czech Republic is obviously not quite as impressive, with only seven members of the top hundred in the world playing in Prague. However, with a five week hiatus since the last regular event, the European Tour players will be chomping at the bit!

2019 - Week 32 Winner

Patrick Reed (ranked 11th by Golf Predictor) won The Northern Trust on the US PGA Tour. The 29 year old American won his seventh tour title in the first FedEx Cup play-off event in New Jersey. Leading by one shot overnight, Reed fell behind Jon Rahm after the front nine on Sunday. However, a couple of dropped shots by the Spaniard in conjunction with two birdies and a gutsy par save by Reed meant he reclaimed the lead. Despite a tight back, Reed then saw it home, beating Abraham Ancer by a single shot with a closing par. Our top ranked player, Brooks Koepka, finished tied 30th and despite several of the stellar field not performing, we had ten of the top eighteen plus ties (10/20) in total.

There was no event on the European PGA Tour this week.  

2019 - Week 32 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, The Northern Trust (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. It's the first week of the lucrative FedEx Cup play-offs on the US PGA Tour and once again, there is an impressive line up in New Jersey. It's a different course this year and there are forty two of the top fifty players in the world teeing it up at Liberty National this week.

There is no event on the European PGA Tour this week.   

2019 - Week 31 Winner

J.T. Poston (ranked 87th by Golf Predictor) won the Wyndham Championship on the US PGA Tour. The 26 year old American won his first tour title with an impressive display at Sedgefield Country Club. Poston became the first player since Lee Trevino in 1974 to win a tournament by going bogey free. Poston was in a final day battle with Byeong Hun An, who was also bogey free for the week until the fifteenth on Sunday. That bogey gave Poston some breathing space and when An also bogeyed the final hole, he fell to third behind tournament favourite Webb Simpson. Simpson was our top ranked player and in an event where many of the bigger names failed to perform, we had six of the top nineteen  plus ties (6/21) in total.  

There was no event on the European PGA Tour this week.
