2010 - Week 10 Predictions Online
The predictions for this week, the sexily titled Waste Management Phoenix Open (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. This was formerly known as the FBR Open, but I guess the US PGA Tour can't be too choosy these days when it comes to new sponsors. There is no tournament on the European PGA Tour this week.

2010 - Week 9 Winners
Ian Poulter (ranked 11th by Golf Predictor) won his first tournament on American soil at the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship. Poulter defeated compatriot Paul Casey 4&2 in the 36 hole final. Casey, who also finished second last year, fell behind early and could never quite catch his flamboyant opponent. Camilo Villegas easily defeated Sergio Garcia 5&4 in the third place play-off.
In the secondary tournament on the US PGA Tour, Cameron Beckman (ranked 36th by Golf Predictor) captured the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun in Mexico. The 40 year old American overcame a 3 shot deficit to beat Brian Stuard and long time leader Joe Durant. Our top ranked player, Heath Slocum finished in tied thirteenth. Overall, in a low quality field that was difficult to predict, we had four of the top thirteen plus ties (4/16) in total.

2010 - Week 9 Predictions Online
The predictions for this week, the WGC-Accenture Match Play (European/US PGA Tour) and the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. Although Golf Predictor is designed primarily for stroke play events, like last season, we put the Accenture Match Play Championship through our prediction engine. Unfortunately, unlike last year, Tiger isn't making a comeback at this event this time around.
Not counting the co-sanctioned WGC event, the European PGA Tour is going on a two week hiatus (not that they had a choice!), but the US PGA Tour is picking up the slack this week!

2010 - Week 8 Winners
Defending champion Dustin Johnson (ranked 2nd by Golf Predictor) successfully defended his AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am title. The American had to do it in the regulation 72 holes this year, unlike last year when weather shortened the event to 54 holes. It was nice to see David Duval challenging again as the former British Open champion finished in tied second place. Joint overnight leader, Paul Goydos, had a horrific 9 on the par 5 14th to put paid to his chances and he ended up in tied 5th. Our top ranked player, Phil Mickelson, finished in tied 8th place and in another event where a lot of the bigger names failed to shine, we had six of the top sixteen plus ties (6/20) in total.
On the European PGA Tour, Andrew Dodt (ranked 20th by Golf Predictor) captured the Avantha Masters in India. Despite a noble effort from Richard Finch, who finished with a 66 for a -13 total, a birdie at the last gave the Australian a one shot victory. Our top ranked player and local hero, Jeev Milkha Singh, missed the cut as the recent birth of his first child (and ensuing lack of sleep!) probably took their toll. Overall, in a low quality field that was difficult to predict, we had five of the top fourteen plus ties (5/17) in total.

2010 - Week 8 Predictions Online
The predictions for this week, the Avantha Masters (European PGA Tour) and the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. The celebrities will be mixing with the pros in California on the US PGA Tour while a pretty weak field will battle it out in India on the European PGA Tour.

2010 - Week 7 Winners
It was a case of so close and yet so far this week for Golf Predictor. Our second ranked golfer won in the US while our top ranked golfer in Europe lost in a playoff at the third extra hole.
Steve Stricker (ranked 2nd by Golf Predictor) continued his great start to the 2010 US PGA Tour season by winning the Northern Trust Open. The American backed up top ten finishes in his first two events this season with a win at the Riviera Country Club. Stricker looked to be running away with the tournament after 3 rounds, but Luke Donald (ranked 12) put it up to him and cut his six shot lead to two at the finish. Our top ranked player, Phil Mickelson, finished poorly again and ended up in tied 45th place. Overall, in an event where the big/form players just didn't perform, we had three of the top ten plus ties (3/14). I believe this marks our worst ever performance, as Ernie Els aside, journeymen and lesser lights completed the top fourteen. If Stricker hadn't won, it would have been a great week for the bookies!
On the European PGA Tour, Miguel Angel Jimenez (ranked 24th by Golf Predictor) won the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in a thrilling tussle with Lee Westwood (ranked 1st). Westwood drew level with a birdie at the last in regulation, but the Spaniard wasn't to be denied. Jimenez managed to stay in the hunt for the first two extra holes as Westwood spurned chances at both. However, Jimenez prevailing at the next. Unlike the American event this week, most of the bigger names/form golfers produced the goods and we had eight of the top eleven plus ties (8/14) in total.

2010 - Week 7 Predictions Online
The predictions for this week, the Omega Dubai Desert Classic (European PGA Tour) and the Northern Trust Open (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. This is the last opportunity for the top players on the European PGA Tour to take advantage of the desert swing appearance fee bonanza, so I hope they put away enough to keep then going for a while!
