Ian Poulter (ranked 11th by Golf Predictor) won his first tournament on American soil at the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship. Poulter defeated compatriot Paul Casey 4&2 in the 36 hole final. Casey, who also finished second last year, fell behind early and could never quite catch his flamboyant opponent. Camilo Villegas easily defeated Sergio Garcia 5&4 in the third place play-off.
In the secondary tournament on the US PGA Tour, Cameron Beckman (ranked 36th by Golf Predictor) captured the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun in Mexico. The 40 year old American overcame a 3 shot deficit to beat Brian Stuard and long time leader Joe Durant. Our top ranked player, Heath Slocum finished in tied thirteenth. Overall, in a low quality field that was difficult to predict, we had four of the top thirteen plus ties (4/16) in total.
