2010 - Week 8 Winners

Defending champion Dustin Johnson (ranked 2nd by Golf Predictor) successfully defended his AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am title. The American had to do it in the regulation 72 holes this year, unlike last year when weather shortened the event to 54 holes. It was nice to see David Duval challenging again as the former British Open champion finished in tied second place. Joint overnight leader, Paul Goydos, had a horrific 9 on the par 5 14th to put paid to his chances and he ended up in tied 5th. Our top ranked player, Phil Mickelson, finished in tied 8th place and in another event where a lot of the bigger names failed to shine, we had six of the top sixteen plus ties (6/20) in total.

On the European PGA Tour, Andrew Dodt (ranked 20th by Golf Predictor) captured the Avantha Masters in India. Despite a noble effort from Richard Finch, who finished with a 66 for a -13 total, a birdie at the last gave the Australian a one shot victory. Our top ranked player and local hero, Jeev Milkha Singh, missed the cut as the recent birth of his first child (and ensuing lack of sleep!) probably took their toll. Overall, in a low quality field that was difficult to predict, we had five of the top fourteen plus ties (5/17) in total.
