2018 - Week 35 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Made in Denmark (European PGA Tour) and Dell Technologies Championship (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. As usual, there is a strong field in Boston for the second play-off event, with eighteen of the top twenty in the world rankings jockeying for position in the FedEx Cup. That doesn't leave much top talent for the European Tour event, but Thorbjorn Olesen is headlining the field in his homeland as he looks to force his way into the Ryder Cup team.

2018 - Week 34 Winners

Andrea Pavan (ranked 29th by Golf Predictor) won the D+D REAL Czech Masters on the European PGA Tour. The 29 year old Italian won his first tour title in an exciting final day battle with veteran Padraig Harrington. Trailing Harrington by two shots after thirteen holes, Pavan finished strongly to overhaul the Irishman and win by two shots in the end. Harrington will rue a missed short par putt on the fifteenth that helped Pavan's cause at a crucial time. Our top ranked player, Thomas Pieters, finished 9th and we had eight of the top eighteen plus ties (8/23) in total. 

Bryson DeChambeau (ranked 27th by Golf Predictor) won The Northern Trust on the US PGA Tour. The 24 year old American won his third tour title with an assured performance in New Jersey. Leading by four shots overnight after a brilliant 63 (-8) on Saturday, DeChambeau was never put under pressure on Sunday and coasted to his second win of the season. In doing so, he laid down a marker for a place on the US Ryder Cup team. Our top ranked player, Justin Rose, missed the cut and despite many of the stellar field not performing, we had nine of the top twenty plus ties (9/24) in total.

2018 - Week 34 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the D+D REAL Czech Masters (European PGA Tour) and The Northern Trust (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. It's the first week of the lucrative FedEx Cup play-offs on the US PGA Tour and once again, there is an impressive line up in New Jersey. Rory, Rickie (injured) and Sergio (didn't qualify) are the only top thirty players in the world not teeing it up at Ridgewood Country Club. Meanwhile, the field in the Czech Republic is not quite as impressive, with only three members of the top hundred in the world playing in Prague.

2018 - Week 33 Winners

Paul Waring (ranked 44th by Golf Predictor) won the Nordea Masters on the European PGA Tour. The 33 year old Englishman captured his first tour title with a play-off victory over Thomas Aiken in Sweden. The duo shared a three shot lead overnight and couldn't be separated over the final eighteen holes. After Aiken found the water on the first extra hole, the injury plagued Waring was able to finally land his first victory with a par. Our top ranked player, the in-form Thorbjorn Olesen, finished in 4th and we had inly five of the top seventeen plus ties (5/20) in this weak fielded event. 

Brandt Snedeker (ranked 11th by Golf Predictor) won the Wyndham Championship on the US PGA Tour. The 37 year old American put some recent poor form behind him with a wire to wire victory at Sedgefield Country Club. Snedeker opened up with a fantastic 59 on Thursday and although he was caught on Sunday by C.T.  Pan, a three shot swing on the final hole saw the American safely home. Our top ranked player, Webb Simpson, finished very strongly for tied 2nd and in an event where many of the bigger names failed to perform, we had only six of the top eleven plus ties (6/19) in total. 

2018 - Week 33 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the Nordea Masters (European PGA Tour) and the Wyndham Championship (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. There aren't many big names competing in America this week, with the Wyndham Championship coming directly after the last major of the season. However, there are a few biggish names and a host of middle tier guys trying to improve/maintain their place in the FedEx Cup standings ahead of the upcoming play-offs. Meanwhile, the field in Sweden is even weaker, with the in-form Dane Thorbjorn Olesen headlining the event.

2018 - Week 32 Winner

Brooks Koepka (ranked 6th by Golf Predictor) won the US PGA Championship on the European/US PGA Tour. The 28 year old American secured his third major title and second of the season with an impressive performance at Bellerive. On an exciting final day's play with a stacked leaderboard that included the resurgent Tiger Woods, Koepka kept his cool to pull away on the back nine to win by two over a resurgent Adam Scott and the aforementioned Woods. Our top ranked player, Justin Rose, finished in tied 19th and although many top names failed to perform, we had eleven of the top nineteen plus ties (11/26*).

*Oosthuizen didn't play, promoting Hatton to the top 26 of the GP Rankings.

2018 - Week 32 Predictions/Statistics Online

The predictions and statistics for this week, the US PGA Championship (European/US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. It's the final major of the season and the PGA Championship heads to Bellerive Country Club for the first time since 1992. It's the last chance for eight months for a golfer to land one of those prestigious titles, so competition is bound to be fierce!

I am happy to announce a new logo for Golf Predictor. After ten years of using the amateurish one I designed myself, I finally got around to getting one professionally done. After running a brief on-line contest, I chose the above logo as the winner. I liked this one for its simplicity, attractiveness and because it conveys the same idea as my own original effort. The version above is designed for the green background of the website header, but there are also other versions designed for a lighter background. These may make an appearance in other channels, such as social media profiles.

Some notes on this new logo:

1. The site template, the iFrame with betting odds and this new logo are now the only things on the site not done by me!
2. This new logo is vertically stacked and thus has different dimensions than the old logo used on the website. Therefore, it wasn't straightforward to replace the logo. Indeed, the header sections in the public facing site and member area had to be rewritten and tested on various sized screens.
3. While editing the header section on the public pages, I was able to fix a few minor display issues, particularly on smaller phones.

I hope you like this new logo, which I am am very happy with. Just another way to make Golf Predictor look a little better!

2018 - Week 31 Winners

Justin Thomas (ranked 8th by Golf Predictor) won the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational on the European/US PGA Tour. The 25 year old American won his first WGC title and third title of the season in the tournament's last staging in Ohio. Despite not having his A game on Sunday, Thomas was able to build on his overnight lead after his three nearest challengers all had poor final rounds. Our top ranked player, Dustin Johnson, finished strongly in tied 3th and we had ten of the top seventeen plus ties (10/22) in total.

Andrew Putnam (ranked 11th by Golf Predictor) won the Barracuda Championship on the US PGA Tour. The 29 year old American secured his first tour title with an impressive display in the modified Stableford event. Putnam won in style, with a twenty foot plus birdie putt at the last to win by four points from Chad Campbell. Our top ranked player, Shane Lowry, finished poorly in tied 15th and we had nine of the top fifteen plus ties (9/21) in the second tier event. 

Gaganjeet Bhullar (ranked 8th by Golf Predictor) won the Fiji International pres. by Fiji Airways on the European PGA Tour. The 30 year old Indian won his first tour title with a strong finish in the South Pacific. Bhullar was trailing by one with two to play, but chipped in for eagle on seventeen and parred the last to edge out the fast finishing Anthony Quayle. Our top ranked player, Justin harding, finished in tied 25th and we only had eight of the top eighteen plus ties (8/24) in this weak fielded event.
