2011 - Week 30 Winners

Darren Clarke (ranked 83rd by Golf Predictor) won The British Open Championship on the European/US PGA Tour. The 42 year old Northern Irish man continued his small country's remarkable run of success in majors by taking their third major in the last thirteen months. The popular Dungannon man played terrific golf in the difficult conditions to join his younger compatriots, McDowell & McIlroy, in the recent major winner's circle. Our top ranked player, Luke Donald, finished with four straight bogeys on Friday to disappointingly miss the cut by three shots. In an event dominated by wet and windy conditions, we had seven of the top sixteen plus ties (7/21).

Chris Kirk (ranked 5th by Golf Predictor) won the Viking Classic on the US PGA Tour. The 26 year old American became the fifth rookie winner of the season when he fired a closing 68 (-4) to  take the title by a single shot from Tom Pernice Jr and George McNeill. Our top ranked player, John Senden, finished in tied 27th and we had ten of the top eighteen plus ties (10/26).
