2009 - Week 40 Winners

Alexander Noren (ranked 30th by Golf Predictor) maintained his overnight two shot lead to win the Omega European Masters. However, the Swede needed the assistance of a difficult holed bunker shot on the 15th for eagle to secure his maiden victory and the second successive success for Swedish golfers on the European PGA Tour. Our top ranked player, Lee Westwood, rallied in the final round, but could only finish in tied 23rd position. In total, we had five of the top seven plus ties (5/10).

On the US PGA Tour, Steve Stricker (ranked 2nd by Golf Predictor) went one better than last week and won the Deutsche Bank Championship. The likeable American sealed his one shot win with an almost tap in birdie on the 18th, the easiest finishing hole on the US PGA Tour. In winning the second FedEx Cup play-off event, Stricker overtook Tiger Woods at the top of the FedEx Cup standings. Woods, who was our top ranked player, finished strongly with a 63 to finish in tied eleventh place. In an event where many of the top players didn't perform, we had four of the top eleven plus ties (4/14) in total.
