2009 - Top 5 Hardest Courses/Tournaments on the European PGA Tour

Based on the average score in relation to par in the tournaments hosted on them, these were the 5 toughest courses on the European PGA Tour in the 2009 Season:
  1. Porto Santo Golfe (Madeira Islands Open BPI)
  2. Bethpage Black (US Open)
  3. Turnberry - Ailsa Course (British Open)
  4. Hazeltine National (US PGA)
  5. Beijing CBD International (Volvo China Open)
Granted, the weather and relatively weak field played a part in Madeira, but hopefully a useful list all the same. The Volvo China Open retains its spot in the top 5 and like last year, it is top heavy with major tournaments. Unsurprisingly, the US Open at Bethpage Black is the hardest of those. You can get more detailed information by looking at the 'Highest Average Round vs Par' chart on the 'View Options/Tourn. Stats' page in the member section of Golf Predictor.
