Ben Crane (ranked 18th by Golf Predictor) secured his first US PGA Tour win in almost five years at the Farmers Insurance Open. Crane parred the last to win by a shot from a trio of pursuers. Our top ranked player, Phil Mickelson, finished poorly in his first event of the season and ended up in nineteenth place. Overall, we had eleven of the top twenty plus ties (11/21).
On the European PGA Tour, Robert Karlsson (ranked 20th by Golf Predictor) put last year's eye problems firmly behind him by winning the Commercialbank Qatar Masters pres. by Dolphin Energy. In a tournament that was beset with high winds, the Swede finished impressively with a 65 (-7) for his first European PGA Tour title since late 2008. Our top ranked player, Henrik Stenson, had a poor week, finishing in tied 64th, but we had seven of the top fourteen plus ties (7/19) in total.

2010 - Week 6 Predictions Online
The predictions for this week, the Commercialbank Qatar Masters pres. by Dolphin Energy (European PGA Tour) and the Farmers Insurance Open (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. Phil Mickelson makes his debut this week in San Diego and I'm sure he'll be trying to overtake Tiger before the end of his self imposed exile!

2010 - Week 5 Winners
Bill Haas (ranked 46th by Golf Predictor) birdied at 18th to secure his maiden US PGA Tour win at the 141st attempt at the Bob Hope Classic. Haas joins his father & uncle in US PGA Tour's winner's circle. Indeed, the young American emulated his proud watching dad by winning this event. In a tournament where most of the bigger names didn't perform, our top ranked player, Mike Weir, finished in sixth place and we had six of the top fifteen plus ties (6/17).
On the European PGA Tour, Martin Kaymer (ranked 7th by Golf Predictor) continued his fine run in the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship by winning for the second time in three years. The German shook off his recent injury woes and finished with a closing 66 (-6) to win by a shot. Indeed, Kaymer had to birdie the last to fend off the valiant Ian Poulter. Irish Open champion, Shane Lowry, had his best result since that fantastic day, finishing in fourth place, just behind Rory McIlroy. Our top ranked player, Lee Westwood, admitted to being rusty and missed the cut in his first event of the season. However, we had ten of the top thirteen plus ties (10/18) in total.

2010 - Week 6 Predictions Delayed
The predictions for this week will be late, due to the weather delays with the Bob Hope Classic. We will of course enter the results into Golf Predictor as soon as possible. We will endeavour to produce the predictions on Tuesday, once the necessary statistics become available.

Twitter Widget Added
Further to our recent post on removing the blog widget from Golf Predictor, we are happy to announce that we have added a widget displaying our latest Twitter tweets instead! This widget is available on the same pages the blog one was displayed on. Hopefully this widget won't start displaying ads any time soon!
Since our Twitter account is somewhat more active than our blog, this is probably a good thing anyway. Please sign up to follow us if you think the tweets are informative and/or entertaining!

2010 - Week 5 Predictions Online
The predictions for this week, the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship (European PGA Tour) and the Bob Hope Classic (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. The European PGA Tour has finally left South Africa and heads to the...Middle East, of course, for the desert swing! On the US PGA Tour, the Bob Hope is traditionally a birdie fest, even if the field isn't particularly strong. We can therefore expect the scoring to be very low over the five days of the event.

2010 - Week 4 Winners
Ryan Palmer (ranked 91st by Golf Predictor) tapped in for birdie at 18th to win the Sony Open by a single shot from Robert Allenby (ranked 11th). That guarantees the American a spot in several big events this season, including The Masters in April. Our top ranked player, Steve Stricker, finished in third place and we had five of the top twelve plus ties (5/15) in total.
On the European PGA Tour, Charl Schwartzel (ranked 1st by Golf Predictor) emulated compatriot Richard Sterne from last season by winning back to back events on home soil. The in-form South African followed up last week's victory by comfortably winning the Joburg Open. Schwartzel finished with a closing 66 (-5) to win by a 6 shots from Darren Clarke and Keith Horne. Including the winner, we had five of the top twelve plus ties (5/16) in total.

Blog Widgets Discontinued
Unfortunately, we have had to remove the once handy blog widgets from the home and blog pages in the member section of Golf Predictor. This was done because we (finally!) noticed that the once free widgets were now being overlaid with Google ads by the widget maker.
In addition, when we fixed the alignment problem with the blog page widget in Internet Explorer, the ad overlay remained at the previous location, so we had no choice but to remove it. We hope this does not inconvenience any of our users.

2010 - Week 4 Predictions Online
The predictions for this week, the Joburg Open (European PGA Tour) and the Sony Open (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. Vijay Singh is making a welcome return to action in Hawaii after his knee operation in November. We hope the 2005 winner is back in the swing of things soon!!
The fourth South African tournament in a row features one of the largest fields of the season, although it is mostly made up of locals and other assorted lesser lights. Last week's winner, Charl Schwartzel, will be hoping to do a "Richard Sterne" and keep the winning streak going on home turf!

2010 - Week 3 Winners
The first week of the 2010 US PGA Tour saw Geoff Ogilvy (ranked 2nd by Golf Predictor) win the 2009 winners junket, aka the SBS Championship for the second year in a row. That's a great habit he's developing there to get his seasons off to flying starts! Our top ranked player, Steve Stricker, finished strongly to end up in tied 10th, but we had eight of the top ten plus ties (8/13) in total.
Meanwhile, in the latest European PGA Tour event held in South Africa, Charl Schwartzel (ranked 1st by Golf Predictor) won the Africa Open for his fourth tour title. Schwartzel prevailed with a closing 67 (-6) to win by a single shot from Thomas Aiken. Including the winner, we had four of the top eight plus ties (4/12) in total.
Not a bad start to the season proper for Golf Predictor - almost predicting both winners!

2010 - Week 3 Predictions Online
The predictions for this week, the Africa Open (European PGA Tour) and the SBS Championship (US PGA Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. Although this is the first full week of 2010, it is the third week of the 2010 season on both major tours. The US PGA Tour is kicking off its season this week as usual with the junket in Hawaii for last year's winners (minus Tiger Woods of course and others who couldn't be bothered to turn up!).
