Ryan Palmer (ranked 91st by Golf Predictor) tapped in for birdie at 18th to win the Sony Open by a single shot from Robert Allenby (ranked 11th). That guarantees the American a spot in several big events this season, including The Masters in April. Our top ranked player, Steve Stricker, finished in third place and we had five of the top twelve plus ties (5/15) in total.
On the European PGA Tour, Charl Schwartzel (ranked 1st by Golf Predictor) emulated compatriot Richard Sterne from last season by winning back to back events on home soil. The in-form South African followed up last week's victory by comfortably winning the Joburg Open. Schwartzel finished with a closing 66 (-5) to win by a 6 shots from Darren Clarke and Keith Horne. Including the winner, we had five of the top twelve plus ties (5/16) in total.
