The predictions and statistics for this week, the 100th Open de France (European PGA Tour), the WGC - Bridgestone
Invitational (US PGA Tour) and the Barracuda Championship (US PGA
Tour), are now available on Golf Predictor. The WGC event has been moved to an earlier slot this year because of the return of golf to the Olympics. The PGA Tour didn't bother to consult with their European counterparts, who as it turns out, were very unhappy that it now clashed with the centenary running of one of their biggest tournaments. In the ensuing row, the European Tour stripped the WGC of its sanctioning, increased the prize fund, offered double Ryder Cup points and double counting towards Race to Dubai obligations to the Open de France. This managed to get Rory McIlroy and a few other Europeans over to Paris at the expense of the WGC, which still boasts a pretty strong field. Meanwhile, the second
string Stableford event in Reno has to make do with only two golfers
from the top one hundred in the world rankings as all the big names
playing this week are teeing it up in Ohio or France.
