We have published the predictions for week 47, the Valero Texas Open (US PGA Tour) and the Madrid Masters (European PGA Tour). Unusually, the promoter of a tournament is playing this week. British Masters champion, Gonzalo Fdez-Castano, runs the company which is promoting the European Tour event in Madrid.
Previous winners of the Valero Texas Open before 2003 (Golf Predictor includes results from the previous 5 years) competing this week include home boys Justin Leonard (2000, 2001) and Bob Estes (1994), as well as Tim Herron (1997). The Madrid Masters is a new event, taking over from the Open de Madrid. Since they share the calendar slot, city and course, we count this as the same tournament for statistical analysis purposes. There is no former winner of the Open de Madrid in the field.
