2013 - Week 24 Winners

Justin Rose (ranked 10th by Golf Predictor) won the US Open on the European/US PGA Tour. The 32 year old Englishman finally won his first major with a fine level par 70 on the brutal Merion layout. Rose was an emotional winner, embracing his playing partner and compatriot Luke Donald and looking up to the heavens to his dad on Father's Day. Our top ranked player, Tiger Woods, didn't play well and finished poorly over the weekend to end up in tied 32nd. Overall, we had nine of the top seventeen plus ties (9/20).

Simon Thornton (ranked 86th by Golf Predictor) won the Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open pres. by Neuflize OBC on the European PGA Tour. The 36 year old Irishman won his maiden tour title with a play-off victory over Tjaart van der Walt. Both players finished the wind affected event on -5, but Thornton prevailed on the first extra hole to take the title. Similar to Rose, he was also emotional in dedicated his victory to his late father. Our top ranked player, Simon Dyson, missed the cut and we had seven of the top twenty two plus ties (7/27) in an event that is traditionally hard to predict. On this particular occasion, the windy conditions didn't help matters.
