After much scrambling from the European PGA Tour and the Irish government, a venue for the 2009 Irish Open has finally been secured. The event will be returning to the County Louth Golf Club at Baltray, a classic links course which hosted the tournament in 2004.
After Adare Manor and Mount Juliet both baulked at holding this year's event, an element of desperation was creeping into the search for a replacement. Even Baltray was considered out of bounds as the Lancome Women's Irish Close was scheduled for the same weekend. However, the ILGU took one for the team and agreed to step aside. Unfortunately, now the ladies have to scramble for a new host course at short notice.
Now that it's been finalised, we've added the Irish Open to Golf Predictor.
